Our Commitment to Athlete Safety and Well-being
Overview
Leviathan is committed to creating a safe and positive environment for all athletes. We support and comply with the U.S. Center for SafeSport's mission to end abuse in sport and create a culture of respect and safety.
Our Safe Sport Commitment
We are dedicated to:
- Maintaining a safe environment free from abuse and misconduct
- Supporting the physical and emotional well-being of all athletes
- Promoting respectful and ethical behavior in swimming
- Complying with all Safe Sport requirements and best practices
- Encouraging reporting of concerns and protecting whistleblowers
Prohibited Conduct
In accordance with Safe Sport policies, the following conduct is strictly prohibited on our platform and in all swimming-related activities:
Types of Misconduct
- Sexual Misconduct: Including child sexual abuse and any sexual interaction between an athlete and an adult in a position of authority
- Physical Misconduct: Including physical abuse and any act that causes physical harm
- Emotional Misconduct: Including verbal abuse, harassment, and acts that harm an athlete's emotional well-being
- Bullying: Including cyberbullying and hazing
- Harassment: Including discriminatory harassment based on race, gender, religion, or other protected characteristics
- Grooming: Building trust with a minor for the purpose of sexual abuse
Reporting Obligations
Mandatory Reporting
All adults involved in swimming programs have a duty to report suspected abuse or misconduct. This includes:
- Coaches and assistant coaches
- Officials and administrators
- Adult athletes
- Parents and guardians who observe concerning behavior
How to Report
If you suspect abuse or misconduct:
- Immediate Danger: If someone is in immediate danger, call 911
- Report to U.S. Center for SafeSport: File a report at uscenterforsafesport.org/report-a-concern or call 1-833-5US-SAFE
- Report to Local Authorities: Contact local law enforcement or child protective services
- Report to USA Swimming: Contact USA Swimming's Safe Sport staff
Prevention and Education
Training Requirements
We encourage all users involved in coaching or team administration to:
- Complete Safe Sport training through the U.S. Center for SafeSport
- Stay current with annual refresher training
- Understand mandatory reporting requirements
- Learn to recognize signs of abuse and misconduct
Best Practices
We promote these Safe Sport best practices:
- Two-Deep Leadership: Avoid one-on-one interactions between adults and minors
- Open Communication: Maintain transparent communication with parents
- Professional Boundaries: Maintain appropriate coach-athlete relationships
- Travel Policies: Follow safe travel guidelines for team trips
- Electronic Communication: Keep all electronic communication professional and include parents when communicating with minors

Beyond preventing abuse, we strive to create a positive swimming environment by:
- Focusing on athlete development over winning at all costs
- Encouraging good sportsmanship and respect for all
- Supporting athletes' mental health and well-being
- Celebrating effort and improvement, not just results
- Building inclusive teams that welcome all athletes
Platform-Specific Policies
User Conduct
On the Leviathan platform:
- All communication must be respectful and appropriate
- Harassment or bullying through the platform is prohibited
- Sharing inappropriate content is strictly forbidden
- User accounts engaging in misconduct will be terminated
Data Protection
To protect minor athletes:
- We limit the personal information displayed publicly
- Parents can request removal of their child's information
- We do not share minor athlete data with third parties without consent
